MOBILISE EXPO in University of Peshawar

 

The NGO World Participated in “MOBILISE EXPO ON TECHNOLOGY MEDIATED DISASTER RISK REDUCTION, CLIMATE CHANGE ADAPTATION AND SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT” at University of Peshawar, Peshawar….The Centre for Disaster Preparedness and Management (CDPM) is currently implementing a project entitled “A collaborative Multi-Agency Platform for Building Resilient Communities” (The MOBILISE), in Pakistan in collaboration with University of Salford, United Kingdom and advisory support of the PDMA, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The MOBILISE project, funded by the Global Challenges Research Fund (GCRF) in the UK, is developing a digital infrastructure that can offer intelligence to a range of agencies to work together to reduce the impact of disasters on communities. The project is focusing on the challenges faced by three low-/middle-income countries (LMICs), namely, Sri Lanka, Pakistan and Malaysia. These countries are frequently affected by a multitude of natural hazards including floods, landslides, cyclones, droughts and earthquakes and, therefore, have been chosen as the focus for this research project to capture a broader set of disaster risk reduction and governance requirements common to LMICs. The Mobilise Project team at the Centre for Disaster Preparedness and Management, University of Peshawar, has organized a one-day Expo on Technology Mediated Disaster Risk Reduction, Climate Change Adaptation and Sustainable Development on April 25, 2019 at PUTA Hall, University of Peshawar. The basic aim of the expo is to exhibit the technology platforms and research work of the Academic Departments/Centers, National and Provincial Disaster Management Authorities, Climate Change Ministry, SUPARCO, PMD, other relevant government departments, United Nations, INGOs, Local Civil Society Organizations and private companies working in the field of disaster risk reduction, climate change adaptation and sustainable development in Pakistan. The expo provided opportunity to sensitize the general public regarding technology mediated disaster risk reduction, climate change adaptation and sustainable development and will further strengthen coordination among organizations and institutions working in the field. More than 30 INGOs, NGOs, University departments, Government Institutes and Rescue teams displayed their work.The NGO World also participated in the event. The team included Mr. Sajjad Nayyer, Rana Jazib and Zahab Mumtaz represented TNW. They showcased TNW work, programs and projects. Team TNW gave orientation to audience and visitors regarding response programs and mitigation strategy of TNW. Mostly students and civil society members were visited the stalls.Honorable Vice Chancellor, University of Peshawar Prof. Dr. Muhammad Asif Khan, Honorable Meritorious Professor and Dean, Faculty of Life and Environmental Sciences, UoP Prof.Dr Bashir Ahmad, Honorable Director HR & Admin PDMA-Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Mian Abdul Qadir Shah and Honorable Director CDPM Prof. Dr Noor Jehan graced the event., Lead organizer of the event, gratified to all Exhibitors for their commitment and displaying their services and products in the Expo. He thankful to all the delegates from Government Departments, INGOs, United Nations, local civil society organizations, private companies, academic institutions and students of various universities, schools and colleges for their wonderful participation in the Expo.
