“BARKAT” Project Wins “Best Model” Award at GIMF 17 in Istanbul

The NGO world won the award for its livestock based Islamic Microfinance (Mudarabah) model project “BARKAT” for poverty alleviation at 7th Global Islamic Microfinance Forum organized in conjunction of “World Halal Summit” in Istanbul -Turkey.

The award is a trust on Professionalism, Commitment, Quality and the Innovation of TNW’s project and working.
Under the Auspices of the Presidency of republic of Turkey, Al-Huda’s 7th Global Islamic Microfinance was organized in conjunction of “World Halal Summit” in Istanbul -Turkey, between 23-25 November 2017. 40+ speakers from more than 30 countries around the world were guests of honors of the event.
H.E Khaled M. Al Aboodi, CEO ICD-IDB, H.E Yousaf Junaid, Consulate General of Pakistan in Instabul, Mr. Ihsan Ovut, Secretary General SMIIC-OIC, Mr. Ali Kurt, Secretary General UNIW and many other renowned experts honoured during 7th Global Islamic Microfinance Forum organized by AlHuda CIBE in Istanbul- Turkey on 24th-25th Nov 17.
The Theme of the event was “Financial Inclusion-Evidence of Impact”: The notion behind conducting the forum was to create awareness of Islamic Microfinance for the benefit of humankind and to help poor to survive at their best.
Islamic Microfinance awards are a signature initiative of Al-Huda CIBE aimed to recognize the industry leaders and to promote the concept of poverty alleviation. Award distribution ceremonies are conducted to highlight the best practices in Islamic Microfinance and celebrate the success of institutions and individuals, with and ultimate objective of promoting social responsibility, Sharia’h authenticity and commitment to Islamic Micro-finance.

About BARKAT Project:

TNW Foundation launched a Shari’ah compliant, livestock-based poverty reduction initiative “BARKAT” by initially distributed 100 cows (heifer) and 200 goats to small home based livestock farmers on partnership basis along with provision of services related to animal health and awareness to get maximum profit.
Statistical, Economic and Social Research and Training Centre for Islamic Countries (SESRIC) a subsidiary organ of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) conducted a research to study the impact of BARKAT program and reported;
“It can be concluded that the Barkat Project is a successful project in the field of poverty alleviation and income diversity. It could be an example for the government and non-governmental organizations working in the sector of poverty alleviation and capacity building. In addition, special courses can be offered for the university students living in the selected area with a view to develop a system and properly utilize the cow dung in order to produce biogas for household consumption”.
